Recent Announcements / News
Recent unconfirmed rumors have sparked the suspicion that Bethesda’s presence at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) conference will mean the public announcement of the next game in the Fallout series. Rumors circulating the internet concerning the development of the much anticipated Fallout 4 have been highly scrutinized, with many examples turning out to be hoaxes, some of which were profoundly elaborate.
Among the hoaxes was a website that has since been taken down and was entitled The Survivor 2299, featured highly wrought details such as a storyline and what was presented as an official contact phone number. The creator of the website came forward in earnest to answer questions on Reddit after Bethesda announced that they had no affiliation with the webpage.
Another of the debunked hoaxes was a page listed on the Internet Movie Database(IMDB) entitled Fallout: Shadows of Boston, which has since been taken down as well. The page claimed that the upcoming game was called Fallout: Shadows of Boston, set in the Massachusetts capital and featured the voice talents of Erik Dellums returning as Three-Dog.
An article published on Kotaku features documents that were ostensibly leaked from the development team of the currently in production game. The publishing journalist claims to have been lucky enough to be the recipient of official casting call documents from one of the Fallout 4 team. Like other Fallout 4 related rumors, this also insists on the Boston location, referencing a project called The Institute. The Institute, or Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as we know it in 2014, is said to be a major focal point of the next game. The Kotaku writer stresses the importance of acknowledging that scenes and details are often invented specifically for casting calls, and that the scenes described in the casting calls may not actually be present in the finished game.
Zenimax Studios, parent company to Maryland based Bethesda Softworks, filed for three patents with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for “nuka cola,” the iconic beverage of the Fallout franchise. The patents “with intent to use,” meaning the production of apparel, computer software and electronic services “relating to computer games via the internet.” This could mean an influx of new Fallout themed hoodies, alarm clocks and mugs. Perhaps the Fallout series will transition to a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) the way that The Elder Scrolls seems to have done The answers may be revealed if Fallout 4 ends up being at E3.
After the 2010 release of Fallout: New Vegas, fans of the post apocalyptic RPG series have been wanting more. Famous for its frustratingly pervasive glitches, New Vegas upset a large portion of the fanbase, eliciting comments like, “New Vegas is boring and slow, with few enemies and tedious, poorly envisioned quests. That is why I am playing Fallout 3,” said kingsiv on the message boards of GameFAQ.com.
Whether or not there is any truth inside this cornucopia of rumors remains to be seen, but it is clear that Fallout fans are eagerly awaiting any news about the release of another addition to the beloved series. Further unsubstantiated recent rumors within the last 24 hours on BGR and the Korean website, KDramaStars claim that the game of now mythic proportions could be announced and given a release date at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles this June. Bethesda, publisher of Fallout 4, will be present at E3 and is listed as Booth #1837 on the roster of participants at this year’s expo.

Video game enthusiasts are gearing up for an action-packed month of releases in May.
Unlike previous years when we would see repetitive releases on the same old video game platforms, each and every next-gen PS4 and Xbox One release in 2014 has marked a new era in many video game series. The most frustrating part about next-gen releases has been the fact that many of the new games have not been ready for launch on PS4 and Xbox One when the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions hit the shelves; nonetheless, the wait has always seemed to be worth it.
After video game titles such as NBA 2K14, Battlefield 4, and Call of Duty have set the bar high for its successors, gamers are anticipating the upcoming releases even more.
Below we have a list of some of the top game titles that will be on the shelves this May. The release dates are according to VG Releases and Gamestop.
- MLB 14 The Show on PS4: The PS3 version of this game is already on the market and the early reviews are pretty solid. We can expect the next-gen version to be even more impressive, and we won't even have to wait that long. This game will be available on May 6.
- Wolfenstein: The New Order on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 & Xbox One: It has been a while since we could see a single game released on this many platforms at once, but here we are. Each and every platform offering this game will have it ready on May 20 and not a day before. If you're looking to buy this game, feel free to let us know which platform you will be using for it.
- Mario Golf World Tour on 3DS: Friday May 2 will be the big day for this game. Keeping track of the never-ending Mario releases can become difficult so be sure to check back again soon if there is another Mario game you're waiting for. At the very least, this game could be a fun, arcade-like alternative to the more
- Mario Kart 8 on Wii U: Raise your hand if you thought there was only one Mario Kart game -- the original one. It turns out this is the eighth installment of the popular game series, so feel free to try it out! Of course, this will be significantly different than the original game but it might be an interesting alternative. You'll have to wait a bit longer for this one, however, as it has a release date of May 30.
- Watch Dogs on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, & Xbox 360: If you're looking forward to buying this game, you're probably also aware of the extra accessories and downloads that come along with it. This game is available on May 27.

Microsoft revealed the sales figure — the first update since the company said it sold 3.9 million units through the end of 2013 — in a blog post today from Yusuf Mehdi, vice president of marketing and strategy for Xbox
Sony revealed its sales figure yesterday.
Both consoles launched in November.
Microsoft’s Mehdi did not address the console’s continuing sales lag behind the competition in his blog post today. Rather, he compared Xbox One sales to those of the previous generation of Xbox consoles, saying: “The new generation is off to a strong start, with global Xbox One sales outpacing Xbox 360 by more than 60 percent at the same point in time, a true testament to your love of console gaming.”
Microsoft had pinned great hopes that the launch last month of “Titanfall” – the much-anticipated first-person shooter from Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment that debuted as an exclusive to the Xbox and Windows platforms — would help goose Xbox One sales.
Indeed, “Titanfall” was the top-selling game in March, “with a solid attach rate to the Xbox One,” and is currently the second-highest selling game for Xbox One, according to the latest report from research firm NPD Group.
Still, it wasn’t enough for Xbox One to overtake PlayStation 4, as Sony’s console led hardware sales for the third month in a row in March, according to NPD Group.
When the Xbox One console — which included the Kinect motion- and voice-sensor — launched Nov. 22, it was priced at $100 more than the PlayStation 4.
Microsoft has been cutting the price since. Last month, the company began offering a “Titanfall” bundle that included the console, game and a month of Xbox Live Gold membership for $500. Now, that package (or a comparable one that includes “Forza Motorsport 5″ instead of “Titanfall”) is selling for $450.
Hardware sales overall in March were up 78 percent from the year-ago period, due mainly to the success of both the PS4 and Xbox One, according to NPD Group.
“PS4 and Xbox One continue to see success with cumulative sales of the two consoles through the first five month currently totaling more than double that of their predecessors, the PS3 and Xbox 360,” NPD analyst Liam Callahan, wrote in a note.
Retail video game sales increased 3 percent in March over the year-ago period, but sales of games that launched in March this year were 42 percent less than those launched a year ago.
“Last March we saw eight of the top 10 games were new launches with games like ‘Bioshock Infinite,’ ‘Tomb Raider,’ ‘Gears of War: Judgment,’ ‘God of War: Ascension,’ Callahan wrote.”This March saw six of the top 10 games as new launches with ‘Titanfall,’ ‘inFAMOUS Second Son,’ ‘South Park: The Stick Of Truth,’ and ‘Dark Souls II.’ ”
